China TPMS Regs Planned

A Taiwan based news source has reported claims by a domestic vehicle components supplier that China intends to make the fitment of TPMS mandatory on new cars.

According to a China Economic News Service article published on March 11, Tsai referred to TPMS regulations in China as being “on the drawing board.” The Mobiletron chairman is said to be a member of the panel establishing a national TPMS standard for China, and he explained that the new policy would initially require TPMS fitment on a quarter of all new cars sold in China, with this increasing to 50% after a year.
